Fullgering Light is a space of meditation amidst the scrambled kinetic energy of the natural and processed. In short, I am defending the fact that we are in a transitional time as humans, and the work in this thesis is stabilizing and destabilizing symbiosis with humans, nature, and human creations to explore a new type of homeostasis. My artworks in Fullgering Light illustrate an imagined empathetic shift of human interaction with old earth and a new age. Robotic, time keeping, neon, repetitive marks lay atop shibori dyed naturally dyed canvas. These natural dye baths are reprocessed into pigment that coexists with the processed oils and acrylics to form narratives of a world evolving into a new type of world creation myth. They exude fabricated light produced by the energy of change. The paintings reference a space such as the expanded center of a Venn diagram, and as a viewer and member of a changing world, the question of “what are we to do” with this change is presented. How are we to help facilitate these changes into a peaceful, co-existence with the undeniable approach of post-human materials? Through detachment, immersion in the woods, facilitating and the melding of natural and processed, I have assembled these looping thoughts visually, the paintings acting as a science “fiction” petri dish presenting a new Genesis of our near future.
